DP World Tour pro Mike Lorenzo-Vera has hit back at a golf fan who sent him a shocking message on Instagram after missing the cut at the Qatar Masters.

Lorenzo-Vera, 38, posted a second-round 74 including a triple-bogey six on the 3rd en route to missing the halfway cut at Doha GC.

He finished on 1-under par and two strokes out of the cut line for the weekend.

The Frenchman then took to his phone to open up his Insta DMs, and it was there he found an irate message from a man named Christian (@andrianoc).

The golf fan messaged: "You gutless loser. F***** gutless performance today what the f***."

Lorenzo-Vera then fired back: "Go f*** yourself you piece of s***. I'm happy you lost your money on a bet!"

The incident marks yet another golf fan rant at a DP World Tour pro in recent weeks.

Scotland's Ewen Ferguson recently disclosed how he had received an unwanted DM on Instagram from an angry golf gambler.

Ryder Cup star Bob MacIntyre also revealed how a spectator shouted out to him about having cost him money at the BMW PGA at Wentworth.

Jon Rahm recently described how golf fan gambling interactions on the course at PGA Tour events are "very, very present".

Rahm spoke about the issues of golf gambling on August 22, when he said:

"I feel like we hear it every single round. That happens way more often than you guys may hear. I mean, it's very, very present.
"In golf, spectators are very close, and even if they're not directly talking to you, they're close enough to where if they say to their buddy, I bet you 10 bucks he's going to miss it, you hear it.
"So it happens more often than you think, yeah. But not only that, on the tee and down the fairway. I mean, luckily golf fans are pretty good for the most part and you're hearing the positive, I got 20 bucks you make birdie here, things like that. But no, it's more often than you think."
