Sami Välimäki defeated Spain's Jorge Campillo on the first playoff hole to claim Qatar Masters.

The Finish DP World Tour pro started the final round at Doha GC one stoke behind the leader but caught up on the home straight.

He posted a final round of 70 to reach 18-under after four rounds. Campillo matched that score with a 2-under 69.

Välimäki made birdie on the first playoff hole compared to a par made by Campillo.

It was Välimäki's first win since the Oman Open three years ago. He also won that in a playoff. He takes home a winner's cheque for €603,208.88.

Fighting back tears, he said: "It's hard to talk. It's been a long journey and feels great. I work so hard and I feel like I've earned it a couple of times, but it hasn't come my way. That's why it feels so amazing."

Elsewhere, Scotland's Scott Jamieson finished T-3 as he fights to keep his tour card.

England's Jordan Smith and Ryder Cup hero Robert MacIntyre also finished inside the top-10.
