He is joined in the field by his Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry.
Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Joaquin Niemman are also in the field.
All the action gets underway on Thursday at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Spain's Angel Hidalgo, who beat Rahm in a play-off 12 months ago, will defend his title.
As ever, there is a huge amount of prize money up for grabs this week.
The Open de Espana is not a Rolex Series event, but there is still a healthy purse of $3.25m.
That means the winner will walk away with $552,500 this week.
