LIV Golf Promotions: Eight notables trying to earn a golden ticket
LIV Golf's version of qualifying school will take place later this week in the United States.
LIV Golf will welcome three new players to its roster at their version of qualifying school.
Their "Promotions" event will be staged at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida over 8-11 January.
The format calls for 72 holes of strokeplay and a total of 83 players will tee it up hopeful of securing a golden ticket.
The lucky few will be granted wildcard status in the 2026 LIV Golf League.
LIV Golf's fourth season begins, as ever, under the lights in Riyadh next month.
Jon Rahm is the reigning individual champion.
GolfMagic has already written about everything you need to know about LIV Golf Promotions.
Here are some names that you might recognise teeing it up.
Anthony Kim
As you'll likely know, Anthony Kim made a surprising return to the sport in 2024 after more than 12 years away from the game.
The multiple PGA Tour winner, who starred in the United States' 2008 Ryder Cup win on home soil, struggled throughout his two-year stint with LIV.
He finished in the relegation zone in his first season but was exempt from the boot. Kim finished in the drop zone again last season but, for the first time, LIV enforced their relegation so as to increase their chances of being accredited by the Official World Golf Ranking.
Kim appears intent on playing on the Asian Tour's International Series in 2026 even if he doesn't get his spot back.
Chris Wood
Chris Wood is a 38-year-old professional golfer from England.
A decade ago Wood won the DP World Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, by three shots and secured his spot on the 2016 European Ryder Cup team.
To say the last few years have been a struggle would be something of an understatement.
Wood has been open about his problems dealing with anxiety that forced him to take a break from the game.
As Wood has no status elsewhere, he has decided try his luck at LIV Golf Promotions.
Chase Koepka
LIV Golf may well have a player named Koepka participating in the 2026 season after all.
Brooks Koepka has decided to quit LIV but his younger brother, Chase, is in the field this week.
Chase, 31, played in the inaugural LIV Golf season with his brother on the Smash quartet but was relegated in 2023.
He has been struggling with fitness but is now back to playing full-time again.
Matt Jones
Australia's Matt Jones was expected to play the 2026 season with Cameron Smith's Ripper.
Smith revealed at the conclusion of last season that he wasn't expecting any changes to his roster.
But it appears Jones has been dropped after finishing in the Open Zone in 2025.
Ben Campbell
Ben Campbell finds himself in a similar situation to Matt Jones.
Campbell qualified for the 2025 LIV Golf season by leading the Asian Tour's International Series' order of merit.
He found a home with Bubba Watson in the RangeGoats but finished in the Open Zone and wasn't offered a contract extension.
Alexander Levy
Frenchman Alexander Levy has been playing on the DP World Tour for the majority of his career, amassing five wins.
Levy lost his card and, although the former top-50 player still has limited status on Europe's top circuit, the 35-year-old is attempting to join compatriot Victor Perez on LIV.
Andy Ogletree
The former U.S. Amateur champion played in LIV Golf's very first tournament at Centurion Club in 2022 and finished bottom of the leaderboard.
He fought his way back to LIV via the International Series but had a dismal 2025 season with Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers, finishing in the drop zone.
Should Ogletree not get his spot back, then it is very likely the American will continue playing on the Asian Tour.
Tom Lewis
The English professional is likely best known for shooting 65 as an amateur at the 2011 Open Championship and winning the Portugal Masters in the same year.
He was once a hot prospect, but inconsistency, injuries and form issues meant his career never matched early expectations.
