Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's golf league is a 'blatant fop' to keep the PGA Tour loyalists onside and earn them millions of 'guaranteed money', according to one LIV Golf pro.

Per Telegraph Sport, the anonymous LIV golfer is said to have told the paper Woods and McIlroy's TGL is greeted with 'eyerolls' when mentioned on the breakaway tour.

"Will you be tuning in on a Tuesday night to watch guys hitting it into a screen," the player told the paper.

"It's a blatant fop to Tiger and Rory to keep them onside and earn them millions of guess what, 'guaranteed money'".

Woods, 47, and McIlroy, 33, announced TGL in August. The tech-infused golf league has now confirmed its full roster with as many as 20 PGA Tour stars taking part.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, European Ryder Cup hero Viktor Hovland and Jordan Spieth appear to be the only high-profile players with no involvement.

Ian Poulter touched upon the subject of TGL in his interview with the paper before LIV's $50m team championship.

The Englishman was adamant TGL wouldn't have been created had it not been for LIV Golf.

"Everyone – big businesses, celebrities, sports stars – suddenly want to get in with team sports," he told the paper.

"Look at Wrexham with those Hollywood actors and other superstars at other teams, clubs and franchises.

"Look at the news in F1. It's not just the potential profit margin, it's being involved and the fun to be had. It's a win, win. Everyone wants a bit and I think LIV has been a leader in this, yeah. Definitely in golf."

Poulter was referencing the fact McIlroy has also invested in Alpine Racing along with footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold and heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
