Charley Hull's apparel sponsor Malbon Golf has taken to social media after the English superstar's near miss at the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl on Sunday.

Hull, 29, entered the weekend in Wales 11 shots off the pace and well out of contention.

But a brilliant 66 saw Hull rocket up the board on Saturday and it left her within three shots of the lead heading into the final round.

Hull started Sunday steadily and she moved within a shot of the lead when converting a 30-footer for birdie on the 14th. Not that the popular Brit knew as she made a shock confession after the round.

Unfortunately for Hull, she could not keep her foot on the gas and two late bogeys on 16 and 17 along with a disappointing par on the par-5 18th saw her finish the week 9-under par and two shots behind eventual winner Miyu Yamashita of Japan.

Hull's tie for second marked her fourth runner-up finish in the majors, three of which have come in the last two years.

Hull admitted on the eve of the season's final major that she had little to no confidence of a good performance, especially as she has felt ill in recent weeks.

She also told reporters she doesn't even enjoy links golf that much.

But Hull revealed in an interview with Sky Sports Golf's Henni Zuel after the AIG Women's Open that she felt "proud" of her efforts and is excited for the rest of the season.

Hull's apparel sponsor Malbon Golf took to X / Twitter to also reveal their pride at her performance.

"Your time is coming," read Malbon's tweet with a graphic of Hull sitting in a chair wearing one of their hoodies.

The caption on the graphic of Hull read: "Gave it a run."

Malbon Golf has sponsored Hull for the past couple of seasons now, alongside former World No.1 Jason Day on the PGA Tour.

Despite never winning a major title, Hull has won four times on the Ladies European Tour and twice on the LPGA

Dame Laura Davies is another who believes it's just a matter of time until Hull wins a major.

"It just has to be her turn soon," said four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies.

"You can't do anything different unless you blow a field away, but we know how hard it is to do that these days.

"She does everything right under pressure, you could say sometimes some players lose it because they can't stand the pressure, but Charley doesn't feel pressure, just like she said at the Solheim Cup, and this will stand her in good stead.

"Charley's had four runner-up finishes, her turn will come you would imagine and if she keeps playing like this it builds the confidence up. She will have to wait until next year at the Chevron to have another crack at it.

"If she never wins a major it will be a suprise to me."
