Jake Knapp forced out of PGA Tour's $20m Cadillac Championship
Jake Knapp withdraws through injury ahead of the first round of the Cadillac Championship.
Jake Knapp has withdrawn from the Cadillac Championship ahead of Thursday’s opening round at Trump National Doral in Miami, citing a left thumb sprain.
The 31-year-old American was due to compete in the $20 million Signature Event — the fifth of the 2026 PGA Tour season — but will now turn his attention to recovery ahead of a busy stretch in the calendar.
Knapp is replaced in the field by Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, who earned his PGA Tour card for the first time this season via the 2025 DP World Tour. Reitan will tee it up alongside J.T. Poston at 12:35 p.m. ET in round one.
Currently ranked 48th in the world, Reitan arrives in Miami off the back of a career-best result on the PGA Tour. He finished tied second at last week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside fellow Norwegian Kris Ventura. The pair produced late drama with an eagle on the 72nd hole at TPC Louisiana, but ultimately fell one shot short after Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick birdied the final hole to secure victory.
Despite a promising start to life on the PGA Tour, Reitan has recorded two top-10 finishes in 10 starts this season. The Cadillac Championship presents a significant opportunity to build on his recent momentum, with $3.6 million awarded to the winner.
World number one Scottie Scheffler headlines the field at Doral and will play the opening two rounds alongside Cameron Young.
Knapp’s withdrawal is a setback given his strong form in 2026. He has recorded five top-10 finishes in nine starts and currently sits 36th in the world rankings. The American will now hope to be fit for next week’s Truist Championship, another Signature Event, before attention turns to the PGA Championship at Aronimink — the second major of the season.
Knapp has played five majors since 2024, with a best finish of tied 11th at this year’s Masters. His record otherwise includes three missed cuts and a tie for 55th.
He is not the only late withdrawal this week. Patrick Cantlay also pulled out prior to the opening round due to illness and has been replaced by Michael Thorbjornsen.
