Tommy Fleetwood admits he is "gutted" to have thrown away a golden chance to win a first PGA Tour title at the Travelers Championship

Fleetwood, 34, held a commanding three-shot lead heading into the final round of the final $20m Signature Event of the PGA Tour season at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut.

Despite being briefly caught around the turn, Fleetwood edged back into a two-shot lead with birdies on 11 and 13.

He missed a golden chance to move further clear with a birdie putt from six feet on 14, before going on to make a bogey on the par-3 16th.

Fleetwood held a narrow one-shot lead down the 18th, but despite splitting the fairway he was in between clubs and came up some 40 feet shy of the pin in the fairway.

Bradley then stuffed his approach shot to six feet to pile the pressure on Fleetwood.

While all that was going on, the third member of their group, Russell Henley, chipped in for birdie to set the clubhouse target of 14-under.

Fleetwood, who was 15-under par at the time, then came up seven feet short and just in front of Bradley's ball.

With nerves jangling, Fleetwood missed on the right side and it left the stage clear for Bradley, who duly sent his ball home for an eighth career PGA Tour title and his second Travelers Championship in three years.

Bradley (68) finished the week on 15-under par and one shot ahead of Fleetwood (72) and Henley (69).

Fleetwood made five bogeys in his disappointing final round of 2-over 72.

While a huge victory for Bradley, it marked yet more heartbreak for Fleetwood on the PGA Tour.

Despite being a seven-time winner on the DP World Tour, Fleetwood was seeking a first win in his 159th start on the PGA Tour.

But the wait goes on for the Englishman, who now holds an active record of 42 top-10 finishes without a win on the circuit.

It's also a sixth career runner-up finish for Fleetwood on the PGA Tour.

"I'm pretty gutted right now," said a dejected Fleetwood, who to his credit still spoke to reporters after the round.

"Just a couple of wrong clubs down the last couple of holes.

"I didn't feel great out there today.

"I feel like there was a stretch on the back nine where there was chance for me to take control.

"Weak putt on 14, tough up and down on 16, then flushed a drive on 18 but got the approach wrong, and left the first putt in the wrong place, just not the best putt and I've things to work on.

"Did a good job for the most part, probably the worst way to finish, leading by two with three to play, and then leading by one down the last and you don't even make a playoff.

"It's the worst way it could go, but Keegan did great. He holed the putts down the closing stretch and he hit some great shots.

"But yeah just gutted really, we'll just go home, start practice again."

Fleetwood later told reporters: "I'm upset now. I'm angry, it hurts."

After the round, Fleetwood was seen being consoled by his family.

Prior to the final round, Fleetwood admitted his family were his "biggest supporters".

The victory for Bradley marks the eighth of his PGA Tour career and a second Travelers Championship in the last three years.

Bradley pockets a huge $3.6m for the win.

The Travelers Championship marked the eighth and final Signature Event of the 2025 PGA Tour season.

The win now vaults Bradley into the world's top 10 and up into the top 10 in the 2025 US Ryder Cup standings.

Many analysts now consider Bradley surely must now play on the team, and pass up his captaincy duties at Bethpage this September.

"Go USA," said Bradley, when he was pressed by CBS' Amanda Balionis as to whether he now fancied playing on the team.

Harris English surged late to finish tied fourth with Jason Day, while the world's best two players Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy closed with a pair of 65s to finish tied sixth.
