A broadcast TV tower collapsed during a storm at the Memorial Tournament on Saturday, shortly after play had been suspended due to severe weather.

The structure came down near the 10th green at Muirfield Village Golf Club roughly 30 minutes after the course had been cleared. No injuries were thankfully reported.

Tournament officials had already halted third-round play earlier in the day as storms moved through the Columbus area, activating standard safety procedures that brought players, spectators and staff off the course.

By the time the tower fell, the evacuation had already been completed.

The third round was underway when lightning and heavy rain led PGA Tour officials to suspend play for the day

Players were taken off the course and spectators were instructed to seek shelter.

The storm intensified shortly afterwards, causing damage across parts of the course, including the collapse of a television tower used for broadcast coverage.

At the time play was suspended, J.T. Poston and Ryan Gerard were tied at nine-under par at the top of the leaderboard.

Sam Burns sits one shot behind, with Eric Cole, Tommy Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark and Keegan Bradley all within reach heading into the final day.

World number one Scottie Scheffler and world number two Rory McIlroy were both eight shots off the lead with holes still to complete in their third rounds when play was halted.

Scheffler is chasing a third consecutive Memorial title, a feat not achieved since Tiger Woods in 2001.

Play is set to resume at 7:30am local time on Sunday, with the final round scheduled to follow later in the day.

To help complete the tournament, players will go out in three-balls from both the 1st and 10th tees between approximately 11:00am and 12:25pm.
