Rory McIlroy tells unruly golf fans to 'STFU' before closing out game at Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup 2025: Rory McIlroy let his anger out on unruly American spectators before sending a dart to a few feet to win his foursomes match alongside Tommy Fleetwood.
Rory McIlroy told unruly American fans to "shut the f** up" before delivering the hammer blow to the hosts during his Saturday morning foursomes match at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
The incident happened when McIlroy was about to play his second shot into the 16th during his foursomes match against Collin Morikawa and Harris English.
As McIlroy was about to play his second shot from the rough, the European superstar backed away after being disrupted for what felt like the umpteenth time at Bethpage.
McIlroy turned towards a group of spectators and then bellowed his expletive in their direction.
The Northern Irishman then settled back in to his shot and fired a dart to a few feet.
McIlroy's teammate Fleetwood sent home the short four footer to win the hole and complete a comfortable 3&2 victory for the visitors.
The win also further strengthened Europe's hopes of becoming the first away team to win the Ryder Cup since last doing so at Medinah in 2012.
As it stands, Europe are running away with things at Bethpage.

McIlroy has had to deal with some horrendous comments during the week at Bethpage.
GolfMagic knows first hand having followed the Ulsterman inside the ropes at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
McIlroy spoke about the heckling he's received after his match.
"I don't mind them having a go at us, like that's to be expected... I mean, that's what an away Ryder Cup is, but whenever they are still doing it while you are over the ball and trying to hit your shot, that's the tough thing," said McIlroy.
"You know, look, in between shots, say whatever you want to me. That's totally fine. But just let us -- you gave us the respect to let us hit shots, and give us the same chance that the Americans have, I guess."
Thankfully, not all the American fans have been hurling abuse at McIlroy.
Some of the home fans have in fact had some nice gestures to throw his way.
We caught one of them as McIlroy strode down the 11th during the Saturday foursomes.
Check it out here:
McIlroy has been putting on a show for the Europeans and is one of a number of players who are unbeaten so far at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
The Ulsterman has picked up 2.5 points from his first three sessions at Bethpage this week.
McIlroy has now pulled level with Jose Maria Olazabal for all-time European points (20.5) at the Ryder Cup.
They share seventh place on the list.
