Scottie Scheffler and his wife Meredith are celebrating the birth of their second child ahead of The Masters.

The world number one and his high school sweetheart had been eagerly awaiting the arrival over the past couple of weeks.

American Scheffler, 29, withdrew from last week's Texas Children's Houston Open at the 11th hour to be with Meredith.

It was first confirmed via AP's Doug Ferguson that the Schefflers welcomed another boy Remy to their family at the end of March, and all four of them are together on site at Augusta National.

Hours after Ferguson's social media post, Scheffler provided an official update to reporters.

"Yeah we had another boy a couple of weeks ago," said Scheffler.

"It's been really nice, it's fun. I'm really glad they are all able to travel with me, my wife is a trooper and brought the boys this week."

It is the second time Scheffler will head into a major championship a matter of days after Meredith has given birth.

The 2026 Masters begins on 9 April at Augusta National and Scheffler is the overwhelming betting favourite to clinch his third green jacket in five years.

He is priced up at odds of 5/1.

Scheffler won his first Masters title in 2022 and again in 2024.

He has four major wins under his belt and only needs to win the U.S. Open to join Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan and Rory McIlroy to complete the career grand slam.

In May 2024, Scheffler arrived at the PGA Championship at Valhalla six days after his son Bennett was born.

Scheffler's fellow players were congratulating him as he arrived for a practice round.

LIV Golf recruit Jon Rahm was among the first to greet Scheffler, asking the golfer on the putting green if he had gotten much sleep.

Scheffler was unphased by the lack of preparation, joking with reporters: "If anybody has hot any diaper advice, I could use it."

Scheffler did not win the PGA Championship that year but was in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

The golfer was arrested by police officer Bryan Gillis hours before his tee time on 17 May.

Scheffler was trying to drive into the club in heavy traffic after a fatal accident nearby.

Gillis thought Scheffler ignored his instructions.

The PGA Tour star was charged second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer.

But on 29 May, all charges against Scheffler were dropped.

After reviewing the evidence, Jefferson County attorney Mike O’Connell said Scheffler's actions did not "satisfy the elements of any criminal offence" and "corroborated" Scheffler's assertation that the incident was a "big misunderstanding".

Scheffler later posted on social media: "As I stated previously, this was an unfortunate misunderstanding.

"I hold no ill will towards officer Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same. Police officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard.

"This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation."

Scheffler also decided against filing a civil lawsuit against the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Scheffler heads into the 2026 Masters having played in six PGA Tour events this season.

He began the year with a bang, winning on his first start of the calendar year at the American Express.

Since then, Scheffler has appeared a tad agitated with his performances, particularly starting slowly on Thursdays and facing battles to make the cut.

Scheffler will be making his 11th appearance at Augusta National.

He is yet to finish outside the top 20.
