Bryson DeChambeau hints at LIV Golf's future with "something fun" tease

Bryson DeChambeau says there's "a lot of potential" for LIV Golf to continue. 

LIV Golf brought their 2026 campaign to a close a week early at The Club at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis following the cancellation of the $40m team championship. 

Michael La Sasso was crowned the winner of what could turn out to be LIV's swansong with a one-shot victory over Jon Rahm. 

The big question facing the embattled league now is whether or not enough players will commit to LIV Golf 2.0 to get the deal over the line with their new investor.

LIV Golf's CEO, Scott O'Neil, told reporters last Wednesday he believes they have the right "critical mass of players" to go forward. 

And DeChambeau agreed, telling LIV's broadcast on Sunday that there is "a lot of potential moving forward".

He added: "It’s been an interesting ride, that's for sure. 

"You know just as much as I do everything that we've gone through and the tough moments that we've had, but it's made us stronger. 

"As much as we're transitioning from LIV 1.0 to 2.0, I have great thoughts about what could happen next year.

"I wish I could be more upfront about it, but ultimately, I'm proud of the fact of what we've done, the good and some of the bad that we've unfortunately had. 

"Things that have occurred, you know, I'm going to be real with it, not everything was perfect, but for the most part we've done a solid job. 

"And if there's one thing that I could say is we did something different in the game of golf, and I'm proud of that.

DeChambeau added: "I think there's something fun coming."

Whilst DeChambeau is clearly willing to commit his future to LIV Golf, the aforementioned Rahm once again chose his words carefully when asked what his plans were.

 

Rahm remains under contract with LIV but over the last few weeks there have been reports the Spaniard is pining for the exit door. 

 

The two-time major champion appears to be among those waiting to see what happens with the circuit first.

 

"I'm looking forward to going home and helping my very pregnant wife with the kids," Rahm said.

 

"The fourth one is due in October, and I'm happy to be dad for a few days before I get back to grinding for the Irish Open, and mainly looking forward to a haircut because I need one badly."

 

When asked whether LIV Golf's uncertain future made it hard to focus on the golf, Rahm added: "Not really. 

"There's been a lot that's surrounded all of us for pretty much since we joined.

"At the end of the day, once we step on the golf course, it's just golf. Everything else goes away, and we just compete.

"It hasn't been any harder or easier than it was."

Rahm's teammate, Tyrrell Hatton, was also reluctant to discuss his future plans but his behaviour at LIV's finale suggested his time with LIV is up. 

Hatton's walk-on song choice at LIV's party hole was the Queen classic "I Want to Break Free" and the Englishman reportedly joked with other players about it. 

The European Ryder Cup star deliberately avoided being doused with champagne as Legion XIII were crowned the team champions. 

When a reporter told him he looked subdued, Hatton said he had a flight to catch. 

"I think anytime you win is great," he said.  

"As I said, we've been able to do that the last few years a number of times, and we've had a great time together doing it. 

"I just want to get to the airport because I have a flight to catch, so that would be great."
