Tyrrell Hatton responds to golf reporter's "subdued" question at LIV's season finale

Tyrrell Hatton told reporters he was desperate to get to the airport when asked why he was "subdued" during the celebrations at LIV Golf's season finale in Indianapolis.

LIV Golf brought the curtain down on their 2026 campaign a week early at The Club at Chatham Hills after their $40m team championship was cancelled.

The tournament, which was won by Michael La Sasso, could turn out to be the breakaway tour's swansong.

LIV Golf has reached an agreement with a new investor to take the league forward in 2027 without unlimited cash from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, but the deal reportedly hinges on a majority buy-in from the current roster.

Hatton appears increasingly likely to be out, with the Englishman teasing an exit at LIV's party hole over the weekend by walking on to Queen's classic rock anthem "I Want to Break Free".

The European Ryder Cup star also made an effort to avoid being doused with champagne after Legion XII were crowned team champions.

One reporter put it to Hatton that he looked "subdued".

"Well, I think anytime you win is great," said Hatton.

"As I said, we've been able to do that the last few years a number of times, and we've had a great time together doing it.

"I just want to get to the airport because I have a flight to catch, so that would be great."

Hatton will be back in action next week on the DP World Tour.

The 34-year-old will tee it up at the British Masters, hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, at the Belfry.

Hatton wasn't initially going to be allowed to compete in the $3.5m event as it clashed with LIV's season finale.

But he committed to the tournament alongside Tom McKibbin.

"It has been an interesting ride"

While all indications point to an exit from LIV for Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau once again reiterated his optimism for the future.

DeChambeau told reporters last week he hopes LIV Golf is given "one more shot" to succeed, although he conceded the league cannot lose too many players.

On Sunday, DeChambeau told LIV Golf's Jerry Foltz that his time with the league has been an "interesting ride".

He added: "You know just as much as I do everything that we've gone through and the tough moments that we've had, but it's made us stronger.

"As much as we're transitioning from LIV 1.0 to 2.0, I have great thoughts about what could happen next year.

"I wish I could be more upfront about it, but ultimately, I'm proud of the fact of what we've done, the good and some of the bad that we've unfortunately had.

"Things that have occurred, you know, I'm going to be real with it, not everything was perfect, but for the most part we've done a solid job.

"And if there's one thing that I could say is we did something different in the game of golf, and I'm proud of that."

Before walking away, DeChambeau teased: "I think there's something fun coming."
