US Open 2025 Live: Final round scores, leaderboard updates, tee times and highlights from Oakmont

US Open 2025 Live: Final round leaderboard, scores and updates from golf's third major of the season at famed Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Welcome to updates from the final round of the 125th US Open at Oakmont.

Sam Burns took a narrow one-shot lead over Adam Scott and JJ Spaun into Sunday's final round.

Burns carded a steady 69 on Saturday to move to 4-under par with just 18 holes left in Pennsylvania.

Viktor Hovland, in search of his first major title, began three back.

They are the only four players in the red thru 54 holes at the 125th US Open.

Burns, Spaun and Hovland have never won a major championship.

Scott is looking to add to his 2013 Masters triumph and all at the age of 44 years old.

Should Scott win, he would become the oldest US Open champion since Hale Irwin at Medinah in 1990.

Other players in contention include LIV Golf duo Carlos Ortiz and Tyrrell Hatton.

Scottie Scheffler started the final day eight behind.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy posted his first under par round of the week, carding a 67, but finished well down the leaderboard.

Play was suspended at 21.03pm BST owing to inclement weather.

Here's what the leaderboard looked like:

Some thoughts from Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy says if he can't summon motivation for next month's Open Championship in Royal Portrush then he doesn't know what will.

McIlroy, 36, has struggled for form since he fulfilled a childhood ambition of winning The Masters in April.

The grand slam winner performed poorly at the PGA Championship and missed the cut with an erratic display at the Canadian Open.

He finished the 2025 US Open on a positive note, though, hitting six birdies in a final round of 67 to sneak inside the top 30 at Oakmont.

Play suspended

The horn has just blown to suspend play at Oakmont.

It looks biblical out there.

Hovland drops a stroke

Hovland +1 (8)

Viktor Hovland pays the full price for missing the green at the 8th.

A poor tee shot find the right bunker and, despite splashing out to around 10 feet, pulls his par putt.

Back to 1-over.

20:58
Hatton makes great par at the 8th

Hatton +1 (8)

The pin at the long par-3 8th is tucked at the back right of the green today.

Tyrrell Hatton finds the green, but is some 60 feet away.

He judges the weight perfectly and ticks off a great par.

20:56
Dark clouds descend over Oakmont

Here comes the rain, everybody!

20:53
Sloppy from Scott

Burns -2, Scott -1 (6)

Poor from the former Masters champion, who takes three to get down at the par-3 6th.

Burns is in for par and regains the lead.

20:45
Hovland birdie chance goes begging

Hovland E, Spaun +2 (6)

Viktor Hovland's birdie putt at the 6th green looks like it's about to drop but somehow drifts by the left cup.

He can't believe it.

Meanwhile, JJ Spaun splashes out from the bunker and cannot save par from 11 feet.

Five bogeys in six hols for the American. Who saw that coming?

20:41
Hatton scrambling

Hatton +1, Ortiz +2 (6)

Tyrrell Hatton finds another fairway at the 7th but is well short with his approach.

Looks like he'll have nearly 70 feet to navigate for par.

20:29
Is Scheffler's race run?

Scheffler +4 (9)

More frustration for the world number one at the 9th.

He finds the putting surface in regulation but yet again watches a makeable birdie putt slip by.

You have to think had he not made that early double then he would be well in this.

Is he too far adrift now?

20:23
JJ Spaun going backwards, Hovland makes a move

Hovland E, Spaun +1 (5)

Grim stuff from the American, who makes his fourth bogey in five holes.

Will he settle down soon?

Hovland converts his short birdie putt

20:20
Scott birdie!

Burns -3, Scott -2 (4)

Scott takes a drop and is faced with a curling putt right-to-left putt down the hill from 45 feet.

Anywhere inside 10 feet is a good effort, in all honesty.

Scott thinks he's holed it, but it just grazes the cup. Easy birdie though.

Burns walks away with a par.

20:17
Spaun struggling

Hovland +1, Spaun E (4)

JJ Spaun is in trouble again at the 5th. His tee shot finds the thick rough right of the fairway and he's forced to hack out.

His second almost finds more thick stuff, but settles in the first cut of rough.

Hovland finds the left trap with his tee shot, but has a wonderful opportunity to get back to level after firing a dart straight at the pins.

Looks about five feet for birdie.

20:14
Burns trouble

Burns -3, Scott -1 (4*)

Scott finds fairway at the fourth and doesn't seem too pleased with his approach. He leans left, but his golf ball goes right and eventually settles next to a sprinkler head at the back of the green.

Tricky two-putt from there.

Burns finds the front bunker and splashes out well short...

It's getting interesting!

20:12
"Carry the bunker"

Hatton +1 (6*)

Tyrrell Hatton, fresh off a par at the 5th, hits what looks like a dangerous shot at the par-3 6th.

He asks for his golf ball to carry the bunker. It obliges, and slowly trickles towards the hole.

Great chance to get to level incoming...

20:09
Clutch from Viktor

Hovland +1, Spaun E (4)

Viktor Hovland avoids his third bogey in a row with a clutch par putt at the par-5 4th.

Spaun finally gets a par on his scorecard.

20:07
Adam Scott bogey

Burns -3, Scott -1 (3)

The Aussie makes another mistake and pays the price for missing the fairway at the third.

Scott is forced to lay up short of the green and cannot salvage par from 50 feet.

Burns is in for par and, suddenly, his lead is two.

20:06
Hatton misses eagle chance

Hatton +1, Ortiz +1 (4)

The Englishman sends a towering shot into the 4th green with a 3-wood and sets up an incredible opportunity for eagle.

It slips by, but it's an easy birdie.

Ortiz settles for par.

20:04
Jon Rahm posts 67

Jon Rahm finishes on 4-over for the 2025 US Open after posting a 3-under 67.

At the moment, that is currently good for a top-10 finish.

Burns leads by two

Burns -3, Scott -1 (3)

Scott goes way right with his tee shot and it leads to a bogey on the par-4 3rd.

Burns two-putts from 25 feet for par.

Burns two ahead.

Young back to back bogeys

Young +3 (6)

Young has given back his good work.

Two bogeys in a row send him back where he started the day at 3-over.
