BEN HOGAN, 40 - 1953 MASTERS

Ben Hogan took a four-stroke lead into the final round of the 1953 Masters and then closed with a round of 69 to prevail by five strokes over Ed Oliver on 14-under.

It marked Hogan's seventh major title and his second green jacket adding to his first two years previous in 1951.

Hogan, who died aged 84 in 1997, went on to win nine majors, which currently places him tied fourth in the all-time major list alongside Gary Player.
