Dustin Johnson has admitted his slow start to the LIV Golf season was a result of 'tweaking' his back, and his follow-up response as to what caused it put a smile on his face and golf social media.

By his own high standards, former World No.1 and two-time major champion Johnson had been playing in first gear for the first four months of the year with just two top-10 finishes in six starts.

That period included a lacklustre tie for 48th at The Masters.

Fast forward to this month and Johnson is back in the winner's circle following playoff victory at LIV Golf Tulsa last week.

Speaking ahead of this week's US PGA Championship, Johnson blames a back injury at the end of January, which forced him out of the LIV Golf-backed Saudi International, as a big reason for his lethargic start to the season.

WATCH DJ'S HILARIOUS RESPONSE HERE:

Johnson said:

"I was ready at the start of the season. Going in, I was going out to play Saudi International, and I tweaked my back right before that. So I didn't hit balls for a few weeks, until right before I went and played Mexico. It's just taken my a while to get back, get the patterns right and just get my body moving right. Developed some bad habits, and it's just golf; things happen. Swinging it well, feeling good, got confidence. That's always helpful coming into a major."

So what caused the back problem, DJ?

"Just pulled a muscle in my lower back."

Swinging a club or picking up a kid?
