Daly to play "revolutionary" vertical groove driver

John Daly signs deal with Vertical Groove Golf and is hitting it "10 yards further"

Daly to play

John Daly – known as Long John for his booming tee shots – has signed a deal with Vertical Groove Golf after enjoying improved performance with their product.

As the name suggests, the driver features vertical grooves which the brand says reduce sidespin, for straighter ball flights and transfer of energy. Daly says he has added 8-10 yards in distance to his drives, and says amateurs can get 35-40% more accurate tee shots with the product.

“I’ve been hitting the ball further and straighter off the tee since putting the Vertical Groove driver in my bag,” the 50-year-old two-time major champion said. “I’m hitting more fairways and the sound at impact is terrific.”

"I can't believe no one came up with this...welcome to the new revolution of drivers my friends, it's vertical."

Chief executive officer of Vertical Groove Golf Jeff Barry said: “Having John Daly, a major champion and an acclaimed long driver, put our Vertical Groove Driver into play on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, is strong validation that this club performs at the highest level.”

The 450cc driver costs $400, and comes in 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts. It uses an Aldila NV2K series shaft.
