TaylorMade P790 Phantom Black Irons: Everything you need to know

It wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest TaylorMade have made one of their best irons ever even sexier.

The brand have today launched their popular P790 irons with a limited-edition black PVD finish along with matching black shafts.

TaylorMade have developed something new for the latest iteration.

It's called 'SpeedFoam Air' and the brand claim it's 69 per cent less dense than the previous version of the material.

That has given the clubs a lighter feel, with an average of 3.5g saved in each iron head.

The previously mentioned weight saving has allowed TaylorMade to lower the CG to improve launch.

Elsewhere, the company claim the sweet spot aligns better with the middle of the face and improves shots hit on the high-toe and low-heel.

The P790's stock shafts are the KBS Tour lite with Z-Grip 360 grips from Golf Pride.

"The new Phantom Black irons really need to be seen in person to be appreciated fully. The TaylorMade P790's are arguably the best players distance irons of the last several years - adding this black PVD finish now gives them a touch of class alongside explosive ball speed. I need a set!"
