Of all the much-fabled prototype models introduced by Titleist to complement the Pro V1 line in recent years, Pro V1x Left Dash has undoubtedly had the biggest impact at all levels of the game.

The Left Dash (not to be confused with the softer, lower launching Left Dot) has seen an immense uptake since its debut as a tour-only custom performance ball in 2018, briefly working its way into the bag of Bryson DeChambeau who famously used the ball to claim the 2024 US Open. While DeChambeau has since moved on from the model, the Left Dash remains a popular option on all the major professional tours.

Now, following its introduction on tour towards the end of the 2025 season, an even leftier, dashier new Left Dash is on the way to market, with Titleist's R&D team doubling down on the blueprint that has made the Dash such an alluring option for better players.

The remit was simple: make it faster and more penetrating while maintaining the same firmer feel and low-spin performance off the tee. In short, they've taken everything that makes the Dash the Dash and cranks it to 11.

“It’s still low spin off the tee. It’s faster, it’s longer, it’s more penetrating into the wind. It’s everything that a Dash player loves with a little bit more,” says Mike Madson, Senior Vice President of Titleist Golf Ball R&D. “We won’t introduce a product just because it’s new... It has to be better, and it has to be validated by players.”

So what's new? Quite a lot, it turns out. The dual core formulation is faster with a higher gradient and more resiliency, increases ball speed and distance. The case is thicker and more flexible, adding speed while driving down long-game spin, while the outer urethane cover is thinner to retain finesse around the greens.

The new Left Dash also gets the same new aerodynamics package already debuted on the new-generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x models: a spherically-tiled 348 tetrahedral dimple design, generating a a more efficient and consistent flight through the air.

The key conundrum Titleist had to solve with the new Left Dash was maintaining its key characteristics without making the ball similar to the Pro V1x, which shares its higher launch profile but dramatically ramps up spin in kind across the bag.

"During that testing, we heard a few comments that started to give us the indication that maybe we weren't going down the right path," says Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Research and Validation. "The prototype felt great. It had good speed and distance, but the spin was creeping up too high in the short irons. In our minds, all it really was doing is moving the product closer to our stock Pro V1x, and it was straying from Left Dash’s DNA."

“So we started to zero in on why they love Left Dash. It’s the speed, the distance, the low spin. We completely shifted gears to focus our efforts there, resulting in a faster, longer Pro V1x Left Dash, with spin optimised for this player.”

The refreshed Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash will hit shelves online and at pro shops on January 21, with an RRP of £52/dozen. You can learn more at Titleist's website.
