Irish Open Round 3 Tee Times and Pairings as Shane Lowry takes lead into weekend at Doonbeg

The third-round tee times for the Amgen Irish Open at Trump Doonbeg will be released by the DP World Tour soon, with Shane Lowry heading into Saturday's Moving Day as very much the man to catch.

Irish Open Round 3 Tee Times – Saturday, September 12

Lowry produced a sensational performance on Friday to seize control of the Irish Open, firing a course-record 8-under 62 to surge from 17th place after the opening round to the top of the leaderboard.

The home favourite is now 11-under par, three shots clear of Jacob Skov Olesen, Niklas Norgaard and Haotong Li, the latter who followed his opening 69 with a superb 63. 

Ewen Ferguson, Kazuma Kobori, Tom McKibbin, Rasmus Højgaard and Joaquin Niemann are a further three shots back on 5-under par. 

Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed has moved into the top 10 on 4-under par. 

But it is Lowry who stole the show on Friday.

The 2019 Open champion has endured a difficult summer by his own high standards, missing out on the second leg of last month's FedEx Cup Playoffs and falling outside of the world's top 50 as a result. 

But with Ryder Cup points qualification now underway, the Irishman has made it clear that he is determined to turn his form around.

And what better place to do it than at the Irish Open?

Lowry memorably won his first European Tour title as an amateur at the 2009 Irish Open at County Louth Golf Club, making his latest performance on home soil particularly special.

He is now chasing a seventh DP World Tour title and his first on the circuit in almost four years.

However, Lowry will need to keep his foot firmly on the gas on Saturday, with a strong chasing pack breathing down his neck.

The pre-tournament favourites, meanwhile, have work to do.

Defending champion and World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is only 2-under par after back-to-back rounds of 69, leaving him nine shots behind his good friend Lowry.

Jon Rahm is one shot better off at 3-under par following a Friday 67, but even the LIV Golf superstar faces a sizeable deficit.

Both McIlroy and Rahm will need a seriously low score on Moving Day if they are to get back into contention for a third Irish Open title.

LIV star Tyrrell Hatton was the biggest name to miss the cut after an indifferent two-day total of 8-over par, with the damage done Thursday with a 78. 

Home favourite and three-time major champion Padraig Harrington also missed the cut on the same score after a lacklustre 77 on Friday.
