With the junior game growing apace, kids' golf equipment is rapidly evolving to meet the needs not just of young ones picking up a club for the first time, but the most talented juniors in the world.

We actually put together a buying guide on the best junior golf sets not that long ago, but the question of what ball to give a child has always proven a bit of a tricky one. Most balls are, after all, manufactured and engineered for adults swinging at adult swing speeds with heavier clubs.

The kids golf ball area is, however, slowly evolving away from the realms of specialist manufacturers and into the mainstream. Vice Golf has its own urethane junior ball, the 3-piece Pro Junior, and now Bridgestone have brought their own entry into the market, collaborating with U.S. Kids golf on a brand new ball designed to help talented juniors and beginners get the most out of their game.

“We take Ball Fitting very seriously and with junior golf seeing more than 50 percent growth since 2019, it makes perfect sense for us to create a ball to meet their needs,” said Bridgestone president Dan Murphy.

Called the BOOM IT JUNIOR, the ball is slightly less complex than the Vice offering, instead focusing on maximising launch and distance for smaller players still in the process of developing swing speed. It comes with a two-piece construction, a high-launching dimple design and an ultra-low compression core, allowing slower swingers to really get the most out of every strike while maintaining a soft feel that's less harsh on newer players.

"Our R&D team focused on the needs of junior players that require more speed and easier launch, and they knocked it out of the park," Murphy continued. "I am confident junior players will have more fun playing the BOOM IT JUNIOR because it is specifically designed to fit their game."

In a fun addition that'll really help kids feel like the pros when using the ball, the BOOM IT JUNIOR also uses Bridgestone's MindSet alignment aid, which which was developed by Jason Day and performance coach Jason Goldsmith to allow for greater clarity of thought at address.

Affordably priced at $22.99/dozen USD, they'll hit store shelves later on this month. You can find out more at Bridgestone's website.
