Bryson DeChambeau is in the midst of a gear upheaval right now.

In addition to switching out both his driver and his wedges in recent months, the American caught eyes earlier this week, revealing a brand new set of custom-produced irons he 3D printed to suit his own game.

However it appears not all of his recent changes have quite stuck just yet.

After making a high-profile switch into a prototype TaylorMade Qi4D driver shortly before the U.S. Open, DeChambeau switched back into his former driver, a Krank Formula Fire that he adopted during his time competing in long drive events.

The exact reasons behind the switch are unclear, given that DeChambeau performed quite well with the TaylorMade at the U.S. Open and practiced with it in the days leading up to the start of the Open.

The move had mixed results, DeChambeau ending the day tied for fifth after shooting a 3-under. He finished 148th in the field for driving accuracy, but nonetheless gained 1.60 strokes off the tee.

He'll continue his quest to make his first major cut of the year when he tees off at 15:04 BST.
