It's hard to improve on complete purity, but that's the rod Mizuno has built for its own back.

The Mizuno Pro S-3 irons are regarded as some of the cleanest money can buy, with a sleek players' profile and an uber-clean cavity back structure adding a touch of forgiveness to the overall package. As such, the S-3 is one of the most popular Mizuno iron models on tour and among better players.

Now, the latest entry into the Mizuno Pro has made its appearance, Mizuno soft-launching the S-4 on its tour truck at The Open this week.

Official details about what's new with the irons are yet to be revealed, however we can see from the snaps posted online that the S-4 has a similar cavity back shape, a more pronounced ridge through the midline, and the same clean Mizuno Pro branding that's so revered within the industry.

It's not confirmed whether the S-4 is envisaged as a successor to the S-3 or is an additional, more forgiving entry into the range. However given the S-3 is approaching the end of its two-year product cycle and the more forgiving M-13 and M-15 irons were revealed earlier this year, we'd put money on it being the former.

We'll be sure to bring you more official details as they're announced.
