How Fujikura and Steph Curry are working together to change the game for young golfers
The partnership between Fujikura and the NBA star's Underrated Golf Tour is provide pathways for people from underprivileged communities into the professional game.

If you haven't heard of UNDERRATED Golf, it's probably about time you get up to speed.
The youth golf tour, founded by NBA superstar Steph Curry, might go down as one of the most important innovations in shaping the way golf looks and feels in the future, providing a platform for talented players from underrepresented communities and giving them pathways into the professional game.
The tour has a distinct focus on getting student-athletes from Black and Latinx communities the facilities and development they need to truly flourish in the game of golf. And while there are some high-profile names from both communities to have made it at a tour level, just 2% of golfers at all levels come from either diaspora.
Already, UNDERRATED Golf has proven a success, having staged tour events in both the US and the UK. PGA West and TPC Sawgrass will be stage two of the tour's next events, with the season's play culminating in the Curry Cup at the prestigious Liberty National Golf Club.
Now, UNDERRATED has partnered up with Fujikura — the number 1 shaft manufacturer on tour— to provide the tour's athletes with a level of technical expertise and professional care normally reserved for tour pros.
"While Fujikura has built a name for itself helping the game’s top players compete in the game’s biggest events, we pride ourselves on being a brand that is here to help all golfers elevate their game," said David Schnider, President and CEO of Fujikura.
The tour's players will receive driver and wood fittings at each event, allowing them to truly dial in their game and play to the best of their abilities—as they deserve.
"It is important for Fujikura to support the UNDERRATED Golf Tour because it is helping shape the future of golf. By amplifying its mission, we are giving its players the same access to the best equipment and custom-fitting benefits that are trusted by the top players in the world.
"That kind of exposure can inspire confidence, elevate talent and help drive meaningful growth in diverse, underrepresented communities."
The UNDERRATED Tour is currently led by Gonzaga University golfer Jayden Lizana on the men's side, and NCGA Junior Champion Hazel Hooper on the women's side. The tour next arrives in Scotland at Fairmont St Andrews on August 13.
