WITB: Camilo Villegas Butterfield Bermuda Championship

An emotional Camilo Villegas was brought to tears after he secured his first PGA Tour victory in nine years at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. 

Villegas, 41, overturned a two-shot deficit on Sunday by shooting a stunning bogey-free 6-under 65 to beat Sweden's Alex Noren by two shots.  

The win marked Villegas' first win on the PGA Tour since the Wyndham Championship in 2014.

Not only was the victory a big milestone in Villegas' career, but it was also a significant moment in his personal life as he dedicated the win to his daughter Mia, who sadly died in 2020 when she was 22 months old following battles with spine and brain cancer. 

Speaking to the media shortly after his round Villegas said:

After finishing as a close runner-up to Erik Van Rooyen at the World Wide Technology Championship last week, Villegas said he received close to 500 text messages from friends and family, and he wanted to thank all those who have supported him on his journey back to the winner's circle.

He added: 

This victory now means Villegas has secured his playing rights on the PGA Tour for Two years.

He has also earned spots into the 2025 Players and the 48th Masters.
