With the Air Jordan 1 Low G shoe, Nike continues its long history of making athletic trainer-style golf shoes inspired by the brands most iconic athletes and designs.

In recent years we have seen a noticeable trend from Nike Golf redesigning some of its most memorable trainer designs for the fairways, and with a great deal of success.

The likes of Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Tony Finau personify Nike’s ambition to make golf styling more athletic and casual, with the new Air Jordan 1 Low G being a perfect example of the brand’s identity within the game.

These shoes have an RRP of £114.95 but they are currently available for a reduced price of £89.99 over at Scottsdale Golf right now.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Low G Golf Shoes - Looks

The simple design of these shoes is a big part of the appeal to me. The classic Nike swoosh combined with the Air Jordan detailing on the tongue and heel are what made the original trainers such a huge hit in 1985 and Nike have stuck with a formula that works.

First things first, I love the genuine leather upper. I would be just as happy wearing these shoes for a day out with my mates as I would be strolling into the pro shop.

The basketball inspired design looks just as good paired with trousers as it does with shorts, adding a more casual element to any golfing outfit.

I tested the all white/white colourway which goes well with any outfit, but Nike also offers a variety of more vibrant colour options for the bolder golfer such as white/rust pink.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Low G Golf Shoes - Comfort and Performance

The out of the box comfort is fantastic, which I’ve come to expect from Nike. Slipping on the Air Jordan 1 Low golf shoes for the first time was like putting on a pair of your favourite slippers.

As someone with wider feet there was plenty of room within the shoe without ever feeling like my foot was sliding around inside. Once laced up the shoes feel very secure and you do get the feeling that your foot is locked in place without rubbing or discomfort in any area.

The shoes come with a one-year waterproof warranty so you can expect them to stand up to all weather conditions. However, while the traction outsole provided ample grip during dry rounds for me, I would want a bit more traction during wetter rounds.

Although somewhat lacking in technical features, the shoes provide excellent traction throughout the golf swing and compete well with the best shoes on the market when it comes to on-course comfort.

Having worn the shoes for a number of rounds, the leather holds up well to dirt but the synthetic tongue and laces do get dirty quite quickly, and in the winter months I could see these shoes getting dirtier than you might like.

Both the materials and stitching have held up after a year of regular use. The only noticeable cosmetic change has been that without shoe trees, the toe of the shoe does curl back a bit, creasing the leather.

Should you buy the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low G Golf Shoes?

The Nike Jordan 1 Low golf shoes are a must buy for golfing sneakerheads.

The lack of technical features compared to something like the PUMA Proadapt Alphacat Golf Shoes is more than made up for with the shoe’s timeless looks, ensuring you won't look out of place wearing these beyond the 18th hole.

The Heritage Traction outsole and forefront pivot circle provide excellent grip, while the classic design and quality materials contribute to making the Air Jordan 1 Low G an excellent choice for fans of a more casual looking golf shoe.

With a number of bright and bold colourway options, you can certainly find a pair to suit your style.

A great choice for your summer golf but you will need a dedicated wet-weather shoe if you intend to play golf in bad weather.

But at a reduced £89.99, you don’t have to break the bank to look as good as PGA Tour star Tony Finau plays.
