Shane Lowry is the most talked about golfer on the planet right now and so he should be, he overcame odds of 70/1 to win the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, but before he had even tee'd off last week, Lowry took part in one of the funniest golf videos of the year.
Paddy Power is an Irish bookmaker, first founded in 1988 in Dublin. Not only is it one of the most successful bookies around, it's also known for being one of the funniest brands when it comes to social media, YouTube and commercials.
Shane Lowry, an Irishman himself, featured in Paddy Power's most recent gag on YouTube, where Lowry was joined by a local Irishman who was working a trial shift as Lowry's caddie, but let's just say he's not much of a golf enthusiast. Check out the hilarious video below:
I think it's safe to say that Lowry never called Owen Colgan back... and lucky so, considering that Lowry's real caddie, Brian 'Bo' Martin, was an integral part of Lowry's Open Championship victory last week.
Speaking to the media about the importance of Bo, Lowry said: “Bo has been incredible the last year. He’s brought a new lease of life to me. He is so thrilled. He was unbelievable today. He kept on my back all day, kept talking to me, he kept in my ear. I kept on telling him how nervous I was, how scared I was, how much I didn’t want to mess it up.
“All I could think about was walking down 18 with a four- or five-shot lead. And lucky I got to do that. He was great at keeping me in the moment today. He’s been great for me. Obviously we formed a great relationship and it was amazing for him today. I’ve known Bo a long time. He’s now become a very good friend of mine. And to be able to share it with someone so close was very special."
