Watson and Noren both found water with their tee shots into the tricky par-3 second.
Simpson then found the water with his tee shot and Garcia barely cleared the hazard.
Watson finally got the US team on the green with his next shot and Simpson drained the putt from about 30 feet for the triple-bogey six.
Noren then duffed his chip to 15 feet and Garcia missed the putt for double.
