Danny Lee sinks incredible putt in four-man (!) playoff to win LIV Golf…

Danny Lee claimed the second LIV Golf League event of 2023 after outlasting three players in an epic playoff in Tucson.

Lee, part of Kevin Na's Iron Heads GC side, hadn't tasted victory since 2015. This was only his second LIV Golf event.

The 32-year-old New Zealander reached a 54-hole total of 9-under par alongside Louis Oosthuizen, Brendan Steele and Carlos Ortiz.

Ortiz was the first player to drop out of the playoff. Lee then had a golden opportunity to claim the win and $4m.

He saw his birdie attempt on the second playoff hole from just inside 10ft drift by the cup in agonising fashion.

Steele, Oosthuizen and Lee headed back to No. 18 for the third time at The Gallery Golf Club.

Lee's approach on the third playoff hole missed the green to the right. He decided to putt through the first and second cut of rough.

His attempt had an awful lot of juice on it. Fortunately for Lee, once it clattered the bottom of the pin it dropped.

Lee could not believe it and lifted his arms into the air before embracing his caddie and teammates.

"Winning is not usually my thing," Lee said in the immediate aftermath of victory. "This changes things."

Lee added:

"I'm speechless right now. I wasn't even looking at the individual score all day. I was only asking about, 'How is our team doing?'.
"That's the reason why Kevin [Na] called and that's the reason I'm over here.
"The individual victory means a lot. I haven't won since 2015. I just felt like winning is just not my thing but today just changed that.
"It's good to see I'm capable of playing some good golf."

Throughout his entire PGA Tour career, Lee had amassed a total of $15,363,106 in winnings. That last victory? It came at the Greenbrier Classic.

His victory earned him $4m plus he'll take home an extra bonus for helping the Iron Heads finish third.

Elsewhere, Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC won the team element.

Once again, Dustin Johnson's 4 Aces GC fared well and finished second, four strokes behind the 25-under total set by the Spaniard's side.

Na's Iron Heads finished third.

Yet again the big names struggled in the second LIV Golf League event of 2023.

The aforementioned Johnson finished T-13 on 5-under.

Cameron Smith finished 26th, Brooks Koepka finished 29th, Phil Mickelson 32nd and Bryson DeChambeau was 44th.
