LIV Golf Bangkok was won by Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra, who claimed the $4m top prize at Stonehill with a three-stroke victory over Patrick Reed in Thailand.

The 22-year-old Spaniard only turned professional four months ago. He was ranked the second best amateur player in the world and opted not to chase a career on the PGA Tour, instead opting for the immediate riches of Greg Norman's breakaway tour.

If you didn't know, there is also a team element to LIV Golf events which hands out even more cash to the top three teams. Lopez-Chacarra is on the Fireballs GC side which is captained by Sergio Garcia. Carlos Ortiz and Abraham Ancer are also on the team.

The Fireballs emerged victorious in Thailand in this aspect, each splitting the $3m which means Lopez-Chacarra took home even more dollar.

Elsewhere, LIV Golf Bangkok provided more drama off the course.

Before the tournament began it was revealed that the little-known MENA Tour had struck a "strategic alliance" with LIV Golf.

Such a partnership gave LIV the confidence that their players would start earning world ranking points so they could have opportunities to qualify for golf's four major championships.

That confidence was short-lived and, unsurprisingly, there are some very unhappy people.
