Bernhard Langer shot an opening round of 4-under par at The Masters and golf fans are going crazy about it on social media.
A two-time Masters winner, Langer is now aged 63 and just proved to the world that you don't need to drive the ball 400 yards to play well at Augusta National.
Finishing his opening round on Friday, Langer made six birdies and two bogeys on his way to a score of 68, the first time he has shot an opening round in the 60's at The Masters since 1993, when he went on to win his second green jacket.
Langer can hit the ball nowhere near as far as the other players in the field, but his accuracy off the tee was followed up with incredible iron play throughout his first round, which led to multiple birdie opportunities.
At more than twice McIlroy's age, Langer beat the Northern Irishman by seven strokes during the opening round, with the World No.5 seriously out of sorts and now faces a fight to make the cut.
Langer has been in incredible form on the PGA Champions Tour and has accumulated 41 wins on the senior tour since 2007, including 11 Champions Tour major championships.
Golf fans around the world were in awe of Langer's first-round performance at The Masters and many took to Twitter to celebrate the German's incredible start to the final major of the year.
Bernhard Langer shooting -4 in one round at the masters at age 63 might be more impressive than Jack winning it at age 46— Conley (@Conley76) November 13, 2020
Watching Bernhard Langer is like watching that 80-year-old lady in the group ahead of you kick your butt by just hitting 100-yard drives straight down the middle of the fairway.— Cork Gaines (@CorkGaines) November 13, 2020
