Finishing his opening round on Friday, Langer made six birdies and two bogeys on his way to a score of 68, the first time he has shot an opening round in the 60's at The Masters since 1993, when he went on to win his second green jacket.

Langer can hit the ball nowhere near as far as the other players in the field, but his accuracy off the tee was followed up with incredible iron play throughout his first round, which led to multiple birdie opportunities.

At more than twice McIlroy's age, Langer beat the Northern Irishman by seven strokes during the opening round, with the World No.5 seriously out of sorts and now faces a fight to make the cut.
