Bryson DeChambeau drives short of green but LOSES HIS BALL!

Bryson DeChambeau's second round got off to the worst possible start after he was forced to play three off the tee on the par-4 3rd hole when failing to locate his tee shot in the deep rough just short of the green.

DeChambeau birdied the par-5 2nd hole to move to 3-under par for the tournament, but then disaster struck when he reached the driveable par-4 3rd.

The American unleashed driver down the short par-4 hole and the camera showed the ball end up to the left of the green but in some deep greenside rough. Upon walking up towards the green, officials told DeChambeau they had been unable to locate his ball.

After a three-minute search without anyone finding it, DeChambeau had to get a buggy ride back to the tee to play his third shot.

The reigning US Open champion then sent his next drive into the exact same place, but managed to find it this time. He then thinned his wedge across the green from there, and went on to make a disastrous triple-bogey seven to fall back to level-par for the tournament after three holes.

He then compounded that with more errors on the 4th and 5th with bogeys, but then rallied on the par-3 6th with a birdie to move to 1-over par for the tournament.

Abraham Ancer, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas currently lead a logjam leaderboard after 36 holes on 9-under par, with Patrick Cantlay and Sungjae Im lying a further stroke back on 8-under par.

English trio Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Danny Willett, the latter who won the 2016 Masters, vaulted up the board to 7-under par.

A host of players in contention for The Masters are still out on the course at the time of this publication, including Paul Casey, Jon Rahm and defending champion Tiger Woods.

Rory McIlroy got off to a horror 3-over par start but recovered superbly in the second round with a 66 to move to 3-under par for the tournament.
