Callaway reveals X-18 and Pro Series irons

X-18 iron from Callaway

After much speculation and false claims from counterfeiters, Callaway Golf has finally revealed its new standard X-18 and X-18 Pro Series irons.

Callaway says each set of irons contains years of knowledge built into a new, sleek package, thoroughly tested by pros and amateurs before its release.

The successor to X-16 and X-16 Pro Series the new clubs feature the latest ‘extreme notch weighting’ claiming to increase stability and forgiveness.

Combined with S2H2 (Short Straight Hollow Hosel) Tru-Bore technology and VFT (Variable Face Thickness) Callaway says the irons are more easily controlled with an improved launch angle - higher in the long irons and more penetrating in the short irons and wedges.

Standard X-18 Irons are available in 2-iron through 9-iron plus pitch wedge (46 degrees), approach wedge (51), sand iron (56) and lob wedge (60). The standard steel shaft is the Constant Weight Uniflex by True Temper, and graphite shaft options include System 55i (light flex), System 75i (regular), System 85i (stiff), and Gems 45i (ladies).

The X-18 Pro Series irons will be available in January in the same set and wedge configuration but will feature True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shafts as standard (in R300, S300 and X100 flexes). Standard graphite shaft is the RCH Pro Series M-75I, which comes in regular, stiff and X-stiff flexes.

Recommended retail price for a set of nine clubs with steel shafts is £649 and £749 for a set of nine clubs with graphite shafts £749.
