Clubs for kids

Stuck for a Christmas present for a child who might be encouraged to aspire to a roll model like Tiger Woods or Ernie Els? Cobra has just the thing.

The brand which is played by the world’s longest driver – Clayton Burger – is producing limited editions of junior sets which feature driver/fairway metal, irons, putter and stand bag.

The clubs are tailor-made for height and grip size, with an ‘age-appropriate’ shaft flex and clubhead weight, designed to fit our want-to-be future champions.

The Cobra SZ Junior 6-8 set will fit juniors from 3ft 6ins – 4ft 3ins and consists of a driver/fairway metal (18 deg loft), 7-iron, wedge, putter and stand bag.

The SZ Junior 9-11 consists of a driver (15 deg), fairway metal (25 deg), 6- and 8-iron, wedge, putter and stand bag. This set is made for golfer heights of 4ft 4ins to 5ft.

The lightweight clubs have been created with the aim of promoting a high trajectory for longer carry and distance plus forgiving performance off the tee or from the fairway.

Says Cobra’s Jeff Harmet: "These golf clubs use the same sophisticated computer-aided design programmes and high quality materials as our adult models. Even the stand bag has the extensive features and eye-catching design."

They will be available in limited numbers later this month - £139 for the 6-8 models and £179 for the 9-11 – though they will be in more plentiful supply in January.
