Garmin Approach: Like a G6!

New GPS from the world's No.1 satellite navigation brand

Garmin Approach: Like a G6!

It’s not just a time of year for new equipment and apparel, the GPS market is swelling too.

Garmin has released its Approach G6 –a sleek, slim, glove-friendly device weighing just 85 grams – which comes pre-loaded with more 25,000 courses across the world and no subscription fees.

And interestingly, it’s powered by an internal rechargeable battery giving golfers the opportunity for an entire weekends worth of play on one charge.

Announcing the G6 at this week’s Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, product manager Martin Resch said: “With its new features, the Approach G6 becomes the must-have tool for every ambitious golfer.

“Golfers around the world now have access to worldwide courses without hidden fees or subscriptions, great new scoring features and also a lightweight and stylish touchscreen product to add to their bag.

“The Approach G6 was designed to take golfers’ games to the next level and make them feel at home on whatever course they play.”

Garmin also offers free course updates that add new courses and make minor edits to the current line-up to ensure the knowledge you have stays accurate.

And just as courses change, so do the pin placements. The flag can be adjusted for the current day’s pin placement with the simple touch of the screen and the large yardage number gives golfers the distance to the pin while the other two numbers give them distance to the front and back.

As with a lot of GPS systems, players can also keep track of their stats, including fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts-per-round, as well as selecting their club, and then measure the exact yardage of each shot they take and the stat-tracking feature will calculate the average distance golfers hit with every club.

The new Approach G6, available in February, will have a suggested retail price of £329.99. Visit the Garmin website for more.
