Hippo Powerstrike WS driver

A new driver for under 40 quid? Could be the bargain of the year!Hippo’s Powerstrike WS driver, priced at a modest £39.99, has a giant 460cc head and even the fashionable screw weighting system favoured my more expensive brands.

Made from titanium alloy, the club’s strategically-placed weights, help lower the centre of gravity and create a better launch angle and trajectory, say the makers.

Hippo also claim the large clubface adds more forgiveness to off-centre hits, thanks to a generous sweetspot and a ‘power channel’ in the sole helps increase clubhead speed. It has a low-torque graphite shaft and Premium Velvet grip.

The Powerstrike will be available in one loft option (10.5 degrees) for right-handers only.

Made from a mixture of cotton and polyester, cool and lightweight shirts will be available in a range of multi- stripe colours including champagne, dawn blue, black (pictured) and white, priced at £30 (sizes small to XXL).
