Just in time for the US Masters - the traditional time when UK golfers emerge from winter hibernation stimulated by watching Augusta on their TVs - a new line of Scotty Cameron by Titleist mallet putters will be arriving on these shores. These Kombi putters - with a choice of three distinct lengths of shaft - have been tried and tested by Tour players to deliver great roll and forgiveness. Chances are you'll be able to spot them in play on the slick Augusta greens The Studio Select Kombi line will be available from April 6 in standard, mid and long length models. The standard Kombi will have the option of 33-, 34- and 35-inch shafts, the Kombi Mid (43") and the Kombi Long (50"). Each putter is milled from lightweight 6061 aircraft aluminum with Studio Select weighting technology, says their designer Scotty Cameron. | ||||||
Kombi putters also incorporate a thick face for solid feel and sound while the combination three-point weighting technology and a deep centre of gravity help keep the putter balanced and stable throughout the stroke. “The addition of the Kombi mallets is the result of a combination of our work with players at the Putter Studio and on Tour practice greens,” says Cameron. “We listen to their feedback and understand their preferences in a putter. The new Kombi advanced mallet-style putters have been used and validated at the highest levels of competition to instill confidence and feel for players who need or prefer a mallet style putter.” The standard Kombi putter comes with circular weights in the heel and toe that allow for a variety of length and weight combinations to fit any putting stroke or style. On the Kombi Mid and Kombi Long putters, the rear circular weight is replaced with a central bar weight to create the optimum head weight and balance for the longer lengths. Red sight lines provide alignment references on the topline and body with a misted topline sight line along the rear edge to make face alignment easier. “Different golfers require putters of different lengths, weights, body and neck configurations,” says Cameron, "but most putter heads are only weighted for 35-inch shafts and therefore, are much too light for shorter lengths, or too heavy for longer lengths. The result can be distant control problems, with the golfer having to hit at the ball instead of being able to stroke it." Scotty Cameron Studio Select Kombi putters will have a recommended price of £225 with Kombi H models featuring heavier head weights costing £250. | ||||||
