Tiger Woods has credited the late inclusion into his bag of the latest Nike Ignite T60 3-wood for his victory in the Ford Championship at Doral which took him back to No.1 spot in the world rankings.

He shot a final round of 66 including an eagle three at the 12th and crucial birdie on the 17th which put him one stroke clear of playing partner Phil Mickelson whose chip to tie clipped the edge of the hole at the 18th.

Woods regains the top spot which Vijay Singh, who finished tied 3rd with Zach Johnson, had occupied for exactly six months.

Trailing by two strokes going into the final round, Woods birdied three of the Par-5s and eagled the fourth, accounting for the three shots that his rival gave up with two birdies and two pars on those same holes.

Woods hit the 3-wood off the tee on No. 10 leaving him with a 3-iron, a chip and a putt for birdie, then made a statement on the 603-yards 12th, hitting his Nike Ignite driver off the tee followed by a 300-yard second shot with the new 3-wood that rolled up to the green.

Remarked Woods, who has seen a distinctive distance increase with the new Ignite T60: "It was 277 to the front and I probably carried it, 280 and it rolled the rest of the way."

It was a critical three-stroke swing in a heated match.

Overall, Woods, using the 460cc Nike Ignite driver, was second in driving distance during the week with a 312.4-yard average, followed by fellow Nike player Paul Casey (311.1). His latest finishes have included four wins, a tie for 2nd and a tie for 3rd. It was the 42nd win of his professional career, and with the most birdies he's ever posted on Tour - 27.

*Ernie Els
