A wedge has to be versatile to accommodate every type of shot we face and visualise - from deep rough, fringe, fairway and sand.

And Nike Golf claims it has produced a new model of club which addresses every possible scenario thanks to a Dual Sole grind that allows for the club to be set square or layed back with an open face for maximum shot-saving.

Nike says it's capitalising on the success of its VR Pro forged wedges by introducing the  Nike VR Pro Forged Dual-Sole (DS) wedge (£89.95) developed with a unique forging process and created from feedback by its Tour players.

For normal shots, where the leading edge is square to the target, the sole has an added leading edge bounce built into the club with trailing edge is relieved, helping to eliminate digging but reducing the contact area so the club glides through the turf. The Dual-Sole, says Nike, prevents bladed shots.

??For open faced shots, where more loft is exposed, the heel design comes into play and allows the leading edge to sit low to the ball, especially for those delicate short flop shots. ???

With its 20 rule-conforming X3X grooves with and textured face pattern for extra spin, Nike says its VR Pro Forged DS wedge delivers more control and consistency in all conditions off of the clubface,

??The wedge is available with a platinum finish (for right-handers only) in 56-, 58- and 60-degree lofts.
