Who will ever forget that fresh-faced Spanish smile and excitable fist pump as his ball paused for a sponsors moment before entering the cup?

Of all Seve Ballesteros's greatest triumphs and special memories, his two-shot victory at the 1984 Open Championship at St Andrews is one every golf fan will cherish.

Ballesteros, who parred the treacherous "Road Hole" before making the unforgettable birdie on the last, denied Tom Watson his third consecutive Open and recorded the fourth of his five major titles.

His closing putt at the "Home of Golf" became the hallmark of an era; the silhouette image was treasured and used as the logo for his Seve Ballesteros Foundation and the handsome smile stole won the hearts of millions.
