Paul Azinger vs. Seve Ballesteros
Who could ever start an argument with late golfing legend Seve Ballesteros? Well, to be fair Paul Azinger could start a feud in an empty room.
The brouhaha commenced at the 1989 Ryder Cup when Azinger vetoed Seve’s request to take a scuffed ball out of play. The feud then escalated in the 1991 ‘War by the Shore’ at Kiawah, with the American stating, “He’s the king of gamesmanship.” Seve’s retort: “Everyone knows I have allergies.”
Ballesteros closed the match, before adding: “The American team has 11 nice guys. And Paul Azinger.”
