Tiger Woods: Players are "laughing at their TrackMan numbers" at PGA

With much cooler temperatures expected all week at TPC Harding Park this week, Tiger Woods has revealed a number of his fellow peers have been "laughing" at the distance of their shots on the range ahead of this week's PGA Championship. 

According to Woods, the par-70 layout is going to play all of its 7,300 yards this week simply because of the weather conditions in San Francisco. 

At least it certainly will if you miss the fairways. Just watch this incredible video of the juicy rough that was posted by Ian Poulter yesterday. 

"Talking to some of the guys yesterday, they were laughing at their TrackMan numbers already," said Woods.

"They don't have the swing speed or ball speed they did last week. It's just the way it is. It's going to be playing longer. It's heavy air whether the wind blows or not, but it's still going to be heavy.

"The ball doesn't fly very far here. I've known that from all the years and times I've had to qualify up in this area. It's always 20 degrees cooler here than it is down there in Palo Alto.

"We knew that coming in. I think the weather forecast is supposed to be like this all week: Marine layer, cool, windy, and we are all going to have to deal with it."

Bryson DeChambeau has been hitting drives well past 350 yards on the PGA Tour season, with a couple going further than 400 yards, so it will be interesting to see how far he can fire his ball around TPC Harding Park this week given what Woods has had to say on ball speed.

Woods was showing off some bizarre short game shots on the range yesterday, and was even spotted working on a one-handed putting motion on the greens...

As for Woods' game himself, he admits he is coming into this week's PGA Championship in much better form than he did in last year's tournament where he missed the cut at Bethpage Black. 

The only slight concern is the cooler conditons on his troublesome back. 

"I think that for me when it's cooler like this, it's just make sure that my core stays warm, layering up properly," said Woods.

"I know I won't have the same range of motion as I would back home in Florida where it's 95 every day. That's just the way it is."
