Rocket Classic 2026 Betting Tips: Three players to back at Detroit Golf Club
Rocket Classic Expert Picks: Check out GolfMagic's latest PGA Tour picks ahead of this week's action in Michigan.
GolfMagic Editor Andy Roberts returns with his three outright selections for this week's Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
After landing winners at 35/1, 22/1 and 12/1 earlier this season, we've endured a frustrating spell of near misses. But with the PGA Tour heading to Detroit with just two more weeks to go until the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, there's another excellent opportunity to get back into the winner's circle.
Although the world's best two players Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are absent, this is arguably the strongest Rocket Classic field we've ever seen, featuring the likes of Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley, Wyndham Clark, Chris Gotterup, Si Woo Kim and exciting young star Jackson Koivun.
Andy has chosen three players for an outright win this week, and the trio come from the above list.
Let's check them out...
ROCKET CLASSIC BETTING TIPS
Pick 1: Cameron Young (12/1)
Cameron Young looks the man to beat this week.
The American came agonisingly close to winning The Open in his last start at Royal Birkdale two weeks ago, firing a brilliant final-round 64 before finishing runner-up by just one shot after a costly closing bogey.
He now returns to one of his favourite venues, having finished runner-up here in 2022 and sixth in 2024.
Across the last 12 competitive rounds at Detroit Golf Club, Young owns the second-best scoring average in the field at 68.08.
Current form and course history make for a compelling combination.
Young arrives as the highest-ranked player in the field at World No. 3 and sits second in the FedEx Cup standings, allowing him to attack the golf course with freedom.
Statistically, his game is in superb shape.
He ranks 10th on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total, seventh in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 12th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee.
The only weakness has been the putter, where he currently ranks 89th. If that club heats up, he has every chance of claiming another PGA Tour victory.
Everything points towards a big week.
If Young putts to even an average level, he's the player everyone else has to beat.
Pick 2: Jackson Koivun (20/1)
Why can't Jackson Koivun do it again?
The 21-year-old American announced himself in spectacular fashion by winning the 3M Open in just his third start as a professional last week, shooting weekend rounds of 61 and 66 to set a tournament-record 25-under-par.
Incredibly, he reached the winner's circle in just his 13th PGA Tour start - quicker than Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau managed.
That's elite company.
Koivun did not qualify for The Open, so unlike a number of players this week he arrives fresh rather than fatigued.
He may have missed the cut on his Rocket Classic debut two years ago, but this is a completely different golfer, plus he was an amateur back then.
His confidence is sky-high right now and every part of his game is trending in the right direction.
Last week he ranked inside the top five for Strokes Gained: Total, Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and Strokes Gained: Putting, highlighting just how complete his performance was at TPC Twin Cities.
He's also climbed from outside the world's top 200 to inside the top 75 in little over a month.
Winning back-to-back PGA Tour events is notoriously difficult, but Koivun already looks like one of golf's next superstars.
At 20/1 in a strong field, the price isn't huge, but neither is his ceiling.
Koivun looks capable of winning anywhere.

Pick 3: Russell Henley (30/1)
Russell Henley stands out as the value selection this week.
The American arrives at Detroit Golf Club as the World No. 5, making him the second-highest ranked player in the field behind our first selection Young.
Fresh from a week off following a top-10 finish at The Open, Henley also arrives in excellent form having won the Charles Schwab Challenge earlier this summer.
The six-time PGA Tour winner has also posted top-12 finishes in each of his last two starts.
Henley's consistency is among the best on the PGA Tour, and he also has encouraging course form having finished tied 10th the last time he played the Rocket Classic in 2022.
Statistically, Henley's game is incredibly reliable.
He leads the PGA Tour in driving accuracy, finding 73% of fairways this season, while also ranking 20th in Strokes Gained: Total and 29th in Strokes Gained: Putting.
Detroit Golf Club rewards good iron play and solid putting more than brute force, making Henley an excellent fit for the test.
At 30/1, he offers genuine value in a field where several shorter-priced players have more questions to answer.
