Tommy Fleetwood set for Nedbank Golf Challenge
Tommy Fleetwood has confirmed he will be participating in this year's Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted by Gary Player.
Tommy Fleetwood is relishing the opportunity to return to the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player from November 14-17. It will be the seventh Rolex Series event with plenty of Race to Dubai points up for grabs.
The Englishman's last visit to Sun City was back in 2017, where his top ten finish proved vital as he went on to conquer the European rankings and win the Race to Dubai for the very first time.
This year's Race to Dubai is hotting up and Fleetwood is well in the mix, currently sitting in fourth position in the rankings, behind Jon Rahm, Bernd Wiesberger and this year's Open Champion, Shane Lowry.
Last year, Fleetwood made his Ryder Cup debut in Thomas Bjorn's European side, where the 28-year-old and his playing parnter Francesco Molinari became the first European pairing to win all four of their matches during Europe's emphatic win over the USA.
This season, Fleetwood has four top 10 finishes, seven top 20's and not to forget his valiant effort in the Open at Royal Portrush, where he finished second.
“This will be my fifth appearance at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, and the Gary Player Country Club is a place that I always enjoy coming to," said Fleetwood.
“I obviously have good memories from the 2017 season, when my performance helped me to secure the Race to Dubai title. I’m in a good position in the Rankings again at the moment, and hopefully I can build on that in South Africa and enjoy another strong end to the season.”
Tournament host, Gary Player, was delighted to see Fleetwood confirm his spot in the tournament:
“With Tommy now confirming his participation in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, our field has become even stronger, which was certainly one of our goals for this year. It’s a testament to the hard work of everyone involved with this tournament – the European Tour, Nedbank, Rolex and especially Sun International.
“Tommy is a terrific player in his prime. When the top players in the world show the importance of ‘Africa’s Major’, it brings even more people to Sun City and has a trickle-down effect on the local economy.”
