The LIV Golf Invitational Series has certainly had a huge impact on the golf world, and now Tiger Woods is getting firmly in the mix.

Woods, 46, met with an elite group of PGA Tour players before the BMW Championship to discuss the future of the Tour.

And now thanks to a report by Alan Shipnuck of The Firepit Collective, we now reportedly know exactly what was discussed.

Those details included:

  • Players discussed the potential for an 18-event "Tour within the Tour", comprising of the top 60 players
  • These 60 players would essentially compete in two "WGC" style tournaments per month, with $20million prize purses
  • The remainder of the Tour season would be filled with events for lower, mid-tier figures who would get an upfront figure of $500,000 for expenses that would go against their tournament winnings
  • The PGA Tour would relinquish it's non-profit status, which would open up the possibility of investment from billionaire figures
  • It was alleged that perhaps Woods and Rory McIlroy would lead any discussions with LIV Golf over a pathway forward

The report also states that as many as seven PGA Tour members will be announced as new LIV Golf signees before the Boston event over 2-4 September.

We know that one of them is likely to be Cameron Smith, per a report by The Telegraph.

Well, if this were to be true then Phil Mickelson's previous remarks about "re-shaping the PGA Tour and how it operates" will come true.

These proposed changes from Woods certainly are remarkable and no doubt current and former PGA Tour members will have their own thoughts.

One former Tour player doesn't appear too pleased with the direction where this is going. "This is f***ed," they reportedly told The FirePit Collective's Ryan French.
