Jon Rahm just broke THIS PGA Tour RECORD and it's only May!

Jon Rahm's stellar season includes breaking an impressive PGA Tour record on Sunday.

It's only May, and yet, Jon Rahm might've already locked up PGA Tour Player of the Year honours as he adds another impressive accomplishment to his 2022-23 PGA Tour season.

With his runner-up finish this past week in Mexico, the current World No. 1 has broken a big PGA Tour record.

Rahm, 28, first won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in early January, and has since won three more tournaments in just a few months as he topped the leaderboards at The American Express, The Genesis Invitational, and finally at The Masters.

In Augusta last month, Rahm earned his second career major by a four-stroke margin over LIV Golf's Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson

And though he hasn't won in the past few weeks since then, he followed it up with a top-15 finish at the RBC Heritage a week later and a runner-up Sunday at the Mexico Open

In addition to his four wins and result this past week, the Spaniard has three other official top-10 finishes in the 2022-23 season, and has not missed a single cut yet.

As a result, on Sunday, Rahm broke the previous record set by Scottie Scheffler for most official career earnings on the PGA Tour in a single season.

After earning $839,300 for a solo second at Vidanta Vallarta, it moved Rahm's earnings for the current season to an impressive $14,462,840.

And it's only just the beginning of May.

Scheffler, who won four PGA Tour events also including The Masters last season, finished that year with a season-total of $14,046,910.

While Rahm's season is currently shaping up much like that of Scheffler's last year, the biggest difference in earnings can be credited towards the increase in designated events on the PGA Tour for 2023.

With the exception of the Tournament of Champions, each of these designated events hold purses of at least $20m

So far this season, Rahm has won three of them. His lone regular PGA Tour event was The American Express, which still paid Rahm $1.44m for the victory.
