Matthew Wolff's STRUGGLES continue this week on the PGA Tour

Matthew Wolff burst on to the scene in 2019 with his unique swing, but the World No. 26 has struggled in 2021.

Matthew Wolff continued his poor form on the PGA Tour this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, as he and his partner Collin Morikawa missed the cut.

The pair shot a two-under-par 70 in the first round but struggled to a disappointing 5-over-par 77 in the Friday foursomes to miss the cut by some way.

On paper, a team of Wolff and Morikawa looked a formidable one but it is fair to say that Wolff has not enjoyed his best season on the PGA Tour in 2021.

The 22-year-old burst on to the tour scene in 2019 when he won the 3M Open, beating the likes of Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau to win his first PGA Tour title.

Wolff earned  $1,390,433 in his first year on tour and this first win came in the same year as the young American turned professional, which is an incredible achievement.

This is Wolff's only win on the PGA Tour but he enjoyed a solid season in 2020, making nine top 25 finishes in 21 events which included a tied fourth finish at the PGA Championship and a runner-up finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Wolff began the 2021 PGA Tour season well, which makes it more surprising that his form has dipped so much. After second-place finishes at the US Open and the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, he climbed to 12th in the Official Golf World Rankings.

But things have gone downhill for Wolff and since he reached that benchmark, he has failed to make a top 10 in 11 starts on the PGA Tour.

He was disqualified for signing for a wrong score in the second round of The Masters earlier this month, which arguably summarises his season so far.

Wolff's swing is instantly recognisable at tour events and he has gained many fans with his unique style of play, so it would be great to see the young man return to form.
