Xander Schauffele says emotionally he's "always for a cut" when the American was asked about the future of the PGA Tour

The 29-year-old was speaking before the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

If you didn't know, the tournament has a star-studded field with the likes of Rory McIlroy and red-hot Jon Rahm in attendance, among others.

Xander Schauffele on future of PGA's powerplay events:

The stop will be the fourth 'elevated event' event of the calendar year. In total, 44 of the world's top 50 players are competing.

We're sure you know by now, but the PGA Tour introduced these tournaments as a powerplay against the LIV Golf League

There have been some rumblings that at some point these events will do away with a cut. That would certainly make the sponsors happy.

And no doubt some fans would be delighted knowing they'll definitely get to see their favourite players no matter what day they have a ticket.

Schauffele has been heavily linked with a move to LIV, where there are no cuts in the 48-man field, three-day events.

He's now signed on to be a part of Tiger Woods' and McIlroy's golf league, TGL, which suggests he's not going anywhere fast.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner told the media that, emotionally, he was always 'for a cut'. But it requires a lot of careful thought.

Schauffele said:

"You know, we're trying to make the best product. To answer the cut question, I am always for a cut. Emotionally I'm for a cut. There is an aspect of it, I would say, that's really entertaining for some.
"But at the end of the day a lot of people like and a lot of kids like to come see the top players play in the world.
"And if they're not having their best they can still, if they got a baseball game on Saturday, Timmy can still come with his dad and watch Rory tee up on Sunday, no matter what happens.
"I think it's also an easier package to sell to the sponsors when you tell 'em that 20 of the top 20 players in the world are going to be there Thursday through Sunday.
"I think that's an easier package to sell when it comes to sort of what makes the best product."

Schauffele spoke to the media shortly after the aforementioned Rahm sent a warning shot to his rivals

Asked if he thought there was anyone that could beat the Spaniard if he was 'firing on all cylinders', Rahm simply said: 'No'.

Schauffele had a different answer to this question.

"I feel like I've almost never fired on all cylinders. I can't wait to see what that feels like.
"But I would imagine -- I've worked pretty hard at this, so if I do fire on all cylinders -- it wouldn't be possible -- but the whole point of golf is you can beat the best without having to fire on all cylinders, and when you do, you know, there's a few guys I've seen fire on all cylinders and it's fun to watch."
