FootJoy's on test

FootJoy are the leading golf shoe manufacturer in the world. And it is not too surprising to learn that more Tour professionals choose FootJoy shoes than any other.

The FootJoy Classics are known throughout the golf World as the benchmark for Golf shoes, but at over £300 for the new Classic Premiere Dry, it might be a bit too steep for most budgets. .

The very best FootJoy offer...Classic Premiere Dry

But apart from spending the earth and having to sell your first born to wear a pair of "Classics", we bring you the best of the latest FootJoy selection at prices more down to earth.

Dry I.C.E

FootJoy claim that their new Dry I.C.E golf shoes are the most technologically advanced, waterproof, performance footwear available in the market place. And after spending a few months already in my own pair, I can see what they mean.

The technology that goes behind these shoes is immense and the secret is all in the insole with the Interactive Cooling Environment, or I.C.E. which keeps your feet nice and cool in the summer and warmer in the winter months. .

FootJoy’s new Dry I.C.E.

While some people say that forking out around £120 for a pair of golf shoes is expensive, you get what you pay for and in these, they are definitely worth every penny, especially if you play a great deal of golf.

The Dry I.C.E shoes come in two colours, black and a white and tan two tone. They come custom fitted with Softspikes Black Widows “Fast-Twist” cleats and are easier than most to keep clean and are very comfortable, as you would expect for a shoe that costs over £100.

Dryjoys: Suggested Retail Price £105

DryJoys are among the most popular shoes on the world’s tours in wet weather. Having had two pairs over the last few years and each pair still in good condition, the DryJoy’s are still a top quality shoe even though they have been superseded by the Dry I.C.E. .

If you cannot afford to stretch out for the Dry I.C.E, then the former flagship model for FootJoy’s all weather shoe range is a great alternative. Still fitted with the Intelligel footbed and with great waterproofing qualities and available in a broad range of colours and sizes, the DryJoy may not be FootJoy’s all weather King anymore, but it is still a quality and lasting shoe.

Aqualites: Suggested Retail Price £79

The only criticism I have with the Aqualites is that they take a while to break in. But so do the top of the range FootJoy Classics, perhaps the finest golf shoe shoe ever made. But like the Classics, once broken in, they are extremely comfortable and mould to your feet well. .

Aqualites, great value

They remain waterproof and are very easy to clean and at £79 a pair, offer excellent value for a shoe that lasts ages. These shoes are ideal for any standard of golfer and can be used and abused all year round and in my experience, having had a black pair for some years now, if you keep them polished, they get better as time goes on. The Aqualites are a classic styled shoe and very hard wearing.

It’s a great policy FootJoy have in not leaving the ladies out of the technological wizardry that accompanies their vast men’s range of shoes. The Lady DryJoys offer exactly the same technology in their shoes as the men, with the only difference being in the styles…a bit more…erm…feminine!

The ladies selection of FootJoy shoes is every bit as good as the men’s and also offer good value and a range of styles, sizes and budgets to suit each individual.
