Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Putter Range 2022 Review: just short of perfect

The 2022 Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putter offers over 5000 MOI, high forgiveness and reduced spin on off-centre hits, but the hollow feel is a concern, especially at this price.

Need To Know

Multi-material design is very attractive; high MOI; soft feel
Feel should be better, considering the £379.00 asking price
Our score:
PRICE: £379.00 YEAR: from 2022

Odyssey released four new putters at the beginning of 2022: the Eleven, the Toulon 22, the Tri-Hot 5K and the White Hot 22. This review focuses on the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putter, which is one of the best golf putters money can buy, but one of the most expensive too.

Alex took the Tri-Hot 5K to Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate, the number one and number three models, to assess their performance.

Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putter - Looks and Feel

With its multi-material finish, the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K certainly looks the part. The construction of the head is particularly alluring.

However, we found the feel to be rather hollow. At this price, we think it could and should be better.

Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putter - Performance and Forgiveness

Odyssey promise that the refinements to the Tri-Hot 5K putter will improve your short game. They are blade style putters but with the forgiveness of a mallet.

Mallet putters have a higher MOI and they are usually heavier clubs. The Tri-Hot 5K is said to have 5000 MOI which is very high, significantly higher than other brands and particularly high for a bladed putter. Odyssey's aim was to reduce side spin on off-centre hits.

The Tri-Hot 5K has a White Hot insert but also a multi-material finish. There is tungsten weighting in the heel and toe, stainless steel on the front and aluminium in the back.

It also comes with the classic Stroke Lab shaft, so overall, the design is very thorough and impressive. The Tri-Hot 5K putter gives good feedback from off-centre hits.

Should you buy the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K putter?

Although Alex received positive results from his practice sessions, you could argue that one issue with the Tri-Hot 5K is a tad too expensive at £379.00.

You could say that with the White Hot insert, this makes the feel of the putter too similar to previous Odyssey White Hot models.

Odyssey excel in their putter production and the Tri-Hot 5K certainly holds a significant place in their portfolio.
